Homeless God

God was homeless when He came,
No one even knew His name
Born in a forgotten place,
Rejected by the human race.

His mother was a lowly girl,
But in God’s sight a precious pearl.
An angel told this awesome news,
And all the status she would lose.

Poor shepherds heard the angels’ song,
That God so loved this world of wrong.
He sent His Son to heal our ways
and set alight our darkest days.

The Lord of Lord’s a tiny child,
Bringing peace where sin runs wild.
In a stable He is born,
Jesus brings a brand new dawn.

God is King, but He seems so small,
But He is with us when we call.
He is not found on the front page,
Like some great actor from the stage.

But He dwells in humble, broken hearts,
Where our love falters, His love starts.
He seems so far, yet He is near
To take away our deepest fear.
